i’m having some trouble with the plant, though. when it’s out of the sun it looks great, but in the late afternoon and evening on really hot days when the sun is directly on it, it just melts. the stems go limp and keel over until they’re back in the shade. if i didn’t have it tied up for support i don’t know if it would still be blooming with us. it doesn’t appear to be diseased or have any insect infestation, and i don’t think it’s a water issue either. has anyone else growing borage experienced this problem?

Huh, weird. I haven't noticed our plant that gets full sun wilt. It does get dappled shade from the tomatoes though. If it pops back once shade hits, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
dappled shade probably helps...this one gets 100% unobstructed, intense sun from about noon to eight, and i realized it's up against a wood fence that bounces back all kinds of heat, so it's cooking from both sides. it hasn't wilted the last few days though, since the weather's been cooler.
Terrific bee photos BTW.
