my first sock!

i finished knitting my first sock last night. it wasn’t as hard as i thought it would be, although i had a hell of a time figuring out kitchener stitch (the stitch you use to seam the heel and toe)--i tried to do it step-by-step while reading the instructions, but that became really confusing and i screwed up a lot, so i had to put down the needles and draw myself a picture. that worked well, and it's easy now that i get it.

this afternoon i’m off to mccall for a week of knitting and reading and cooking and playing musics, so i’m sure i’ll have ample time to knit a buddy for this guy. i’m excited to try more challenging patterns, too—this one’s simple and kind of boring, but i think it looks pretty cute.

Congrats on your first sock! Mine took forever....about a year....between starting and messing up and stopping...then getting back to it.
Nice job!

Good job! I still have trouble making a scarf look right. I'm definitely impressed! :)

I love it! I so want to learn how to knit. Wish I could have you teach me! Maybe I'll pick up some supplies and try practicing while at the beach this weekend.

kim and victoria--thank you! you probably started with a more difficult pattern than i did...i chose a really easy one but i still managed to mess it up a bit. i love the socks you make.

andrea--thanks so much! i'm pretty happy with the colors too.

goneferal--it totally does look like a sock monkey sock, that's one of the reasons i chose that pattern.

spoon--i maked the seconds one, but we can still has the puppets shows. yus.

shari--thanks! i hope you keep practicing--my first couple scarves were pretty funky too.
