yiiikes

i got the job. i’ll have to put in my two weeks’ notice tomorrow. my supervisor’s going to have a meltdown. i’m going to have a meltdown.

i went to jason’s 26th birthday gathering this evening, just half an hour after i got the news. on the drive over i suffered some ugly combination of ultra-rapid-cycle bipolar disorder and full-blown tourettes. then i got there, made a big fuss over the birthday boy, eventually told him the news, and immediately one of his (extremely high) friends started enlightening me about some of the negative aspects i’ve already given plenty of consideration to. the weird thing is, that actually helped. i was in such a crazy place at the moment, trying to process what just happened, and her shitting on it calmed me down and made me feel better about my decision.

it seems like this was meant to happen. i feel more confident about it than i do about most things.

Well congrats Emily! I always remind myself that nothing is forever. This job could just be a stopping place on your way to something even better. Perhaps a great way to learn as you grow. Good luck, it sounds wonderful!

I agree with Victoria completely. We'll have to talk about this new job. I hope the announcement goes O.K. at the old job.

victoria--thank you! definitely, nothing's permanent. i'm actually in a good place right now where if for some reason it doesn't work out it won't be too devastating.

goneferal--yeah, i'd love to get together and chat soon. the announcement went better than expected. everyone was really happy for me and supportive. and it was the perfect day to make the announcement because i had both a staff meeting and a board meeting to go to. now everyone's notified and i can just focus on wrapping up some big projects for the next two weeks.

You are a good person and so nice, I'm sure they were truly happy for you. If I find out you are an ax murderer, than I'll have to change my mind, but I'm pretty god with observing character.

I love the new sprout photo, so fitting!

Congrats!!! Sometimes you just have to leap and trust that the net will appear! Just don't forget to breathe through the transition :-)

goneferal--haha, that's so sweet of you. rest assured: an axe would be very low on my list of preferred murdering instruments.

bumble lush--thank you! it went well, although i think it's going to get a lot harder as my last day approaches.

bee girl--good advice, thanks. it's a pretty serious jump.
