kiss me like you mean goodbye (said the spider to the fly)

i don’t know how this came to be. one minute i’m taking pictures of a squirrel and the next, this acrobatic death in progress is blowing around in my face. the spider was on a single thread, slowly dragging the relatively enormous insect up his winding stair, backwards.

later i noticed another bug of the same type, only alive…i’m thinking it might be a male mosquito?

I have a real problem with wanting to save things caught in spiders' webs. Yes, I know the argument.

i feel the same way. my instinct was to free this one but i stopped myself. if i see bugs trapped in an abandoned web, or if i see some trapped insect and it's too overwhelmingly sad to leave it in the web, i gently extract them.

Tough one, isn't it? Conversly, I also to go to great lengths to save spiders from bath tubs and things. And I decline to destroy a big spiders' web in my bathroom. Whose side am I on?
